Overview

Halal Gourmet is built to be a welcoming, reliable space for Muslims and food lovers worldwide. Our community features (including restaurant reviews, recipe discussions, travel comments, and photo submissions) exist to share genuine experiences and practical knowledge.

To protect the integrity of our platform, all registered members must adhere to these guidelines. Violations will lead to content removal and account sanctions.

Spam {#spam}

We prohibit commercial advertising and disruptive solicitations:

• Unsolicited commercial promotions, affiliate links, and marketing campaigns are not permitted in reviews or comments.
• Do not post repetitive comments, duplicate reviews across multiple venues, or automated messages.
• Venue owners may describe their own offerings accurately in dedicated profile fields, but may not post promotional spam in community review sections.

Offensive content {#offensive}

We maintain high standards of civic respect and dignity:

• Vulgarity, profanity, and sexually explicit language are prohibited.
• Do not upload images containing nudity, violence, or repulsive imagery.
• Keep tone constructive and considerate, even when expressing disappointment with a meal or travel service.

Harassment and abuse {#harassment}

Every member deserves to participate without fear of intimidation:

• Do not insult, threaten, mock, or demean other members, editors, or venue staff.
• Stalking, coordinated downvoting, aggressive trolling, and persistent unwanted contact are grounds for immediate suspension.

Hate speech and discrimination {#hate}

Halal Gourmet strictly forbids hate speech:

• Content that promotes violence, incites hatred, or uses dehumanising language against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, or national origin is strictly banned.
• Denigrating ethnic traditions or culinary heritage has no place in our community.

Misleading or fraudulent information {#misleading}

Trust requires authentic, truthful contributions:

• Post only reviews based on your genuine personal dining or travel experiences.
• Do not submit fake reviews, simulated experiences, or paid endorsements.
• Venue owners and competitors may not post reviews of competing businesses.
• Fabricating certification claims, displaying forged certificates, or falsely claiming ownership of an establishment is strictly prohibited.

Sectarian content and division {#sectarian}

The Muslim community encompasses diverse legal traditions, cultures, and scholarly schools of thought:

• Denigrating legitimate schools of Islamic jurisprudence (madhhabs) or insulting scholars is prohibited.
• Do not engage in takfir (declaring other Muslims to be outside the fold of Islam) or promote sectarian hostility between Sunni, Shia, or other recognised Islamic communities.
• Respect diverse cultural expressions of Muslim heritage across regions.

Political campaigning {#political}

Keep discussions focused on food, travel, and religious facilities:

• Do not use reviews, discussion threads, or recipe comments for partisan political campaigning, government propaganda, or geopolitical arguments.
• Protests, political boycotts, and regional political disputes belong in dedicated civic forums, not on local restaurant or recipe pages.

Religious policing {#religious-policing}

Halal Gourmet reports public facts, verified certifications, and ingredient information:

• Members must not act as moral vigilantes or police the personal religious observance, piety, or attire of other members, venue proprietors, or staff.
• Certifications and menu practices should be discussed factually. Avoid questioning the personal faith or religious sincerity of diners, restaurateurs, or staff.

Privacy violations {#privacy}

Respect the personal privacy and safety of others:

• Do not share non-public personal information, including home addresses, private telephone numbers, private email addresses, or government identification numbers.
• Do not upload photographs of private individuals or venue staff without their knowledge and consent.

Off-topic content {#off-topic}

Keep contributions relevant to the page you are viewing:

• Reviews must focus on food quality, service, dining atmosphere, value, and halal integrity of the specific establishment.
• Recipe comments should focus on cooking methods, ingredient substitutions, and culinary results.
• General banter or discussions unrelated to the listing will be removed.

Copyright and intellectual property {#copyright}

Contribute only original content that you own or have permission to share:

• Do not copy written reviews, articles, or text from other websites, guides, or publications.
• Upload only photographs that you took yourself or have acquired explicit permission or an open license to publish.

Other safety violations {#other}

Any other conduct that threatens platform stability, violates local laws, facilitates illegal transactions, or compromises safety is prohibited and will be met with immediate enforcement.

Enforcement and sanctions

Our moderation team reviews reports and enforces platform standards using a fair, proportionate ladder of actions:

• Content action: Content violating these standards will be rejected before publication or removed from public view.
• Formal warning: Issued for minor or first-time infractions, explaining which guideline was breached.
• Temporary suspension: Imposed for repeated or serious infractions. Suspensions are set for durations of 1 day, 7 days, or 30 days, during which the account cannot post reviews, comments, or suggestions.
• Permanent ban: Imposed for severe violations, hate speech, fraud, or persistent misconduct. A ban revokes all access and terminates the account. Permanent bans require authorization from platform administrators.

Appeals process

Members have the right to appeal any content rejection, content removal, or account sanction:

• Time limit: Appeals must be submitted within thirty days of the moderation decision.
• Independent review: An appeal is evaluated by an independent moderator who had no involvement in the initial decision.
• Target resolution: Appeals on content decisions are reviewed within 48 hours; appeals on account suspensions or bans are reviewed within 24 hours.
• Outcome: If an appeal is upheld, the previous action stands. If an appeal is overturned, removed content is restored and any active sanction is immediately lifted.
