What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer or mobile device when you browse websites. They are widely used to maintain secure sessions, remember display preferences, and ensure online services function properly.

This cookie policy explains which cookies Halal Gourmet uses, their technical purposes, and how you can manage them.

Cookies we use

Halal Gourmet uses only strictly necessary and functional preference cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies during our public preview.

1. Functional preferences

• Theme preference cookie (named hg-theme): Remembers your choice of interface appearance (light mode or dark mode). If you choose to follow your operating system settings, this cookie is cleared. It is stored for up to one year and uses standard browser security settings.
• Language preference cookie (named NEXT_LOCALE): Remembers the site language you selected. It is stored for one year.

2. Session and authentication

• Web session cookie (named authjs.session-token, or prefixed with __Secure- on secure connections): Holds an encrypted session token allowing you to remain signed in as you navigate between pages and interact with account features. It is marked as HttpOnly to prevent unauthorized script access, uses SameSite protection against cross-site leakage, and is transmitted only over encrypted connections.
• Temporary registration cookie: Set during the multi-step registration sequence to maintain continuity between screens, expiring automatically after ten minutes.
• Temporary logout redirect cookie: Remembers your return destination during the sign-out process and is deleted immediately once the redirect completes.
• Identity management session cookies: Used during direct self-service identity flows (such as account password recovery) to authenticate the recovery request and verify form security tokens.

What we do not use

We maintain a transparent policy regarding tracking:

• No advertising cookies: Halal Gourmet displays no third-party advertisements and sets no advertising identifier cookies.
• No analytics trackers: We do not set third-party analytics cookies or behavior-profiling trackers during the preview.

The preview shows no cookie consent banner.

How to control cookies

Most web browsers allow you to manage cookie settings through their preferences menu. You can configure your browser to reject all cookies, alert you when a cookie is placed, or delete existing cookies at any time.

Please note that if you disable strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in to your account, save bookmarks, or submit reviews.
