Corrections

How to report factual inaccuracies, suggest updates to catalog records, and track editorial reviews.

Last updated 2026-09-26

Our commitment to accuracy

Halal Gourmet relies on accurate, timely information. Menus evolve, ownership transitions occur, and certification statuses are renewed or revoked. We welcome factual corrections from readers, diners, venue managers, and certification authorities.

When an error is discovered in our directory, guides, or airline reports, our editorial team investigates and corrects the record promptly.

How to submit a correction

You can submit a correction through two channels:

1. In-app correction tool

Signed-in members can suggest a correction directly on any listing:

  • Locate the listing: Navigate to the restaurant, airline, mosque, or product page containing the inaccurate statement.
  • Open the suggestion form: Select the option to suggest a correction.
  • Detail the change: Indicate the specific field or statement in question, provide the current text as you see it, and enter the corrected details.
  • Provide evidence: Include a valid web address pointing to the official certifier registry, venue announcement, or supporting public document.
  • Missing certifiers: You can also use this form to suggest an accredited certification organisation that is not yet present in our certifier directory.
  • Rate limits: Members may submit up to twenty corrections per day to protect review queues from automated disruption.

2. Direct email submission

Certification bodies, business owners, and readers without an account may email corrections@halalgourmet.com directly with supporting documentation. Please include the link to the relevant Halal Gourmet page, the exact claim to be amended, and supporting evidence.

What happens after submission?

Every correction follows a transparent review procedure:

  • Review queue: Submissions enter our editorial review queue.
  • Independent verification: An editor checks the submitted evidence against official registers, government records, or direct statements from the certifying organisation.
  • Editorial decision:
    • Accepted: If verified, the correction is approved and scheduled for inclusion in the next catalog release. Once live on the site, the correction is marked as applied.
    • Rejected: If the submission is contradicted by official documentation or lacks verifiable proof, it is rejected with a brief explanatory note.
  • Member notification: Registered contributors can follow the status of their submitted corrections within their personal account history.
