Food and drink
- Halal meals
Airline policyHalal is a Muslim meal to order in advance, up to 24 hours ahead on the ANA website.
ANA offers a Muslim meal as a special meal, prepared in accordance with the regulations and customs of Islam, with no pork products, gelatin, alcohol, flavourings made from alcohol, or seafood from species without scales or fins. It can be requested on the ANA website up to 24 hours before departure, or through the ANA message service up to 5 days before. The menu on flights from Haneda and Narita differs from flights to them.
- Who certifies them
Airline policyANA says its caterer, ANA Catering Service, is halal-certified; no certifying body is named.
ANA says its caterer, ANA Catering Service, has obtained halal certification and can prepare halal meals in-house. ANA names no certifying body, and no certifier mark is published for its Muslim meal.
- Does the meal turn up
Airline policyA special meal may be cancelled if the booking changes, so confirm it again afterwards.
ANA says requested special meals may be cancelled when a flight reservation is changed, and asks passengers to confirm their services after changing. We found too few first-hand reports to judge how reliably the Muslim meal is delivered.
- Alcohol on board
Airline policyWine and sake are part of its in-flight dining, and the Haneda lounge has a bar.
ANA's in-flight dining programme, THE CONNOISSEURS, includes wine and Japanese sake among its specialisms, and its Haneda international lounge offers sake, shochu and other alcoholic drinks. We found no ANA policy on dry routes.

- Water for istinja
Airline policyANA's 787s have washlet toilets; other aircraft are not described.
ANA's account of ten years of the 787 says the toilet was equipped with a bidet for the first time on a 787, and that its lavatories have washlet toilets. We found no current ANA page on which aircraft or cabins have them.

Seating and families
- Sitting together as a family
Airline policyFree seating near a parent for under-14s applies only to Canada flights; Basic fares get no advance seats.
ANA's Customer Service Plan, which applies to flights to, from and within Canada, says it makes every effort to seat children under 14 near a parent or guardian at no additional cost, though a seat selection fee may still apply. On its North America Basic fares, advance seat reservation is not available, even to Diamond and Platinum members; seats are assigned at online check-in. A FlyerTalk poster flying Haneda to Houston with a one-year-old reported being offered only middle seats in two different rows.
